BIOGRAPHY
An abstract and semi-abstract landscape painter, Emma lives and works in Surrey. Having lived in both England and Australia, Emma’s paintings are influenced by her emotions and visual memories, primarily of the natural landscapes within which she has lived and travelled. Her work is often underpinned by at least one of the themes- nature, environment and conservation – by stripping back the landscape of its representaional line and form, she creates an atmospheric and ethereal ambiance. By enhancing mood and drama through a depth of light and colour, this evokes a sense of meditative contemplation and self-reflection of our place in the landscape, showing that we each have our own unique connection that comes from being within nature.
Emma initially undertook a Foundation Fine Art Degree before completing a Bachelor of Graphic Design. She has had a successful career both in Sydney and London as an Art Director and Creative Director for some of the worlds leading womens magazine titles. In 2019 Emma left the confines of the publishing world behind to pursue her fine arts career – evolving from a realism pencil artist to an abstract landscape painter today.
Notable successes include being selected on three occassions for the prestigious David Shepherd WIldlife Foundation Wildlife Artist of the Year, most recently as winner of the Earth’s Wild Beauty category for her work depicting wildfires; the Society of Graphic Fine Art and the Society of Women Artists ~ all exhibiting at the Mall Galleries, London. She was shortlisted for the Women in Art Prize 2023, appeared as a wildcard on SkyArts Landscape Artist of the Year 2024. Emma exhibits regularly with the UK, and her works are held in private collections around the world. She became an Associate member of the Society of Graphic FIne Art (the Drawing Society UK) in 2024.
